Everything works but nothing is clear
Clearly a programmer to write applications with a claim to the designer. Pile options vyrviglaznye color and lettering. What and why is not clear, but it seems the error messages come. It is better to use standard fonts, icons and colors.

I love this App! Some graphic faults on Huawei Ascent Mate 7 - EMUI3 (grey background in notifications, and doubled red icon in case of an critical event) but not a big deal. Great work!!!

Using it with opsview, it's one of the first apps i install on a new phone. Please, put back the refresh button where it used to be, in the little menu that pops up when you hit the settings hardware button on some phones. Sorry, but action bar and old fashion menu are incompatible.

Thanks to Damien for this really great tool which makes our life with Icinga/Nagios much easier. This is a must have for each administrator. Unfortunatly this is not working with Icinga2/"Icinga-Web". So maybe it is possible to implement this too for the instances. I know, that the interface or connector is very different from nagios or icinga(1), because there is no cgi-bin/status.cgi. But maybe it is even possible to implement it in another way. EDIT: Okay, I was in contact with Damien and he teached me to install icinga2-classicui for icinga2... ;) ...now everything is working also with my icinga2! Thanks to Damien and thumbs up! You can have both interface (web ans classic (icinga-cgi)) running at the same time :)

Many thanks! But is it possible that it's playing "host down" alerts using the notification volume rather than the alert volume? The "service critical" alerts are loud enough to wake me up but the "host down" alerts are very low-unless I tick the volume override.

Certificate authentication
Superb app! But really lacking a certificate option. Our nagios needs a private cert for security reasons. As a result we are not able to use this app outside of our own network. Please add this feature and get 5 stars. Depending of my schedule client cert authentication might come in the couple of month (not a promise).

Used this app for some time now and came across a pretty unique problem whereby a system update on my HTC moved the location of the sound alert I used. I emailed the developer who replied promptly and guided me through troubleshooting before pinpointing, and resolving the issue. Saved my on many occasions, and will continue to do so!

I use Nagios in my business to monitor my customer networks. I have been using aNag for a couple of years and it is a wonderful front end tool for my Android phone. Amazing app. It's nice to interface with nagios on the go through an app instead of having to log into the web portal. Has everything you need right at your fingertips. The LED light fix last week did not work on my phone... it actually made things worse. Would show a persistent purple color when my phone was locked - blocking all other LED notifications. I let the developer know and he fixed it in a matter of days. GREAT dev support! If you work with nagios and are on android, this app is a MUST!!!!

For Nagios apps own aesthetic seems to be true, they are, without exception, all designed without a look at the Android Design Guidelines and across the board ugly and difficult to operate. Since this is also true for Nagios itself, which is probably OK that way. This app is functional but compelling and the best mobile companion for Nagios is to have the time to be 5 stars with closed eyes. Actually, if I find time to do this *maybe* later this year, I'd redesign the app (maybe a different application to keep this one as legacy for old devices).
Don't forget how older Android looked like :)
As I keep 1.5 and old devices compatibility, I have to keep it as small as possible (that's one of the reason it's not good looking)

Would be super perfect if their was a way to disable notifications for scheduled downtimes (I haven't found it) Take a look in Settings/Notification/Notification filters/Skip shed. for downtime services and Skip sched. hosts and services. If you want them to be hidden from the main list, you can also check Hide shed. for downtime services and the next option in Display filters and options. Previous elements must be checked too. Might fail if in soft state.

Love it.... But have a suggestion....
Could you create a widget that just refreshes my instance? I only have one instance (so far), but I would love it if my N with the green droid on top, when the n goes red, I could then just click the instance and it would refresh.... I live in a canyon with bad reception, and often have to traipse out beyond wifi reception.

Settings => Notification => Enable auto silence.
You have two options:

Hi there, thank you for your good work! But maybe i have a bug "Don't fetch soft state services" is activated for me, but my phone still rings for every soft-state. Using v2.3.12. This is a specific case that works better with recent Icinga and JSON fetch.
If something is in soft state, I can't filter it client side so it is asked to the server to perform filtering. In this case aNag can miss informations (ex: host is disabled but enters soft state, it disappears from collection thus services on it will trigger a notif :/)

Nice app, but needs a few defaults changed
This is a pretty good app, but I was quite surprised to see the display of a load of services/hosts that I'd disabled notifications for in the Nagios Web interface. Delving into the settings, "Display filters and options" does indeed have options for this (to hide services/hosts that have had their notifications disabled), but it bizarrely defaults to *not* being ticked. I think the default for this is important because you don't want to swamp the first-time user with a load of "problems" that they don't normally deal with. The fact that the option to change this behaviour isn't hugely easy to find means that some people might be put off right away and uninstall the app. Please consider changing the default for the two options in the Settings.

Amazing App
I was in Antigua for a vacation when I aNag showed that the Oracle Replication was down. I promptly VPN'ed to the office to disable the Main Oracle server from archiving to the Replication server. Emailed my colleague to check why the Replication was down. Enabled Archive logging back to the Replication server once it was brought back up. Main server would have stopped working if it was not able to archive to the Replication server. Company commended me for working on the problem while on vacation. Keep up the good work guys.

Super. Still needs a little ... Helps a lot in everyday life of the admins. But sometimes problems with changing WLAN / VPN / UMTS connections. Can not end with scripts using Profiler you. I'm not sure to see what you mean (google translate sometimes is not that good).
If I understand well, you have troubles while connectivity changes? You can tweak several parameters (in Settings / Low level settings / Http timeout, retry and retry sleep) to see if it performs better (be careful, those can also make things worse).

hello admin...no doubt its an amazing app, got every detail which we required to monitor..! but, observing one problem not able to monitor one particular group which is configure in nagios...can we monitor one group (with host and services) in "anag" app..? aNag doesn't perform filtering on groups because it would require more queries and thus more bandwidth, battery cons. etc.
The primary goal of aNag is to keep queries count, bandwidth, CPU and battery consumption as low as possible (cur. 2 queries, 3 in the worst case).
Maybe "Pattern based filter" (clearly not the best) can be an alternative?

Alas, needs some work Just says 'host name may not be null'. It appears to be stripping characters from the host address and making it invalid. My hunt for a nagios client better than the web UI goes on.. The only chars stripped from the URL are leading and trailing spaces, which in case of an URL, trailing spaces should be encoded (%20 ?). If this doesn't work, I'be glad to help you to figure this out!

Excellent app! Love this app, with its useful summary screen. It's a bit noisy, but that's more a function of how our nagios instance is set up. Would be better if it listed faulty services by host rather than by service name as that would be more useful to me (I generally want to know which host is experiencing an issue before I want to know what issue is being experienced), but that doesn't detract from it much. BTW, I have it installed on the Samsung Galaxy S3 with the latest version of the 4.1 Jellybean.

Great app but broke after upgrade to Jellybean aNag worked great for me until I upgrade my Samsung Galaxy SIII to Jellybean. Now it stops at random and often the icon is all grey. I need to start it again and refresh it manually to get my little man to go green again. Any suggestions? Anyone got this stable on Jellybean on an SGSIII? It was rock solid pre-upgrade. Could you send me a mail instead ? Maybe you could ship me some logs to see if I can find a workaround or thing like that ?
About the grey icon, it's because datas are holded in the service and sometimes Android kills it. It's restarted few second later and if it's done during quiet hours, no automatic update is performed until allowed (outside quiet hours, grey icon means first update comming or pending).

The Best Nagios Application Out There I use Nagios in my business to monitor my customer networks. I have been using aNag for a couple of years and it is a wonderful front end tool for my Android phone. There are so many features and configurable options that I can customize to my own personal needs. Truly a wonderful application! I would definitely recommend.

Très pratique Domage que les filtres ne fonctionnent pas tous. EX: j'ai configuré un downtime sur un host et filtré pour le pas alerter les host et services pour un host en downtime... Ça ne semble pas fonctionner Ceci dit, ce n'est pas réellement un bug mais un soucis dû au JSON.
Du fait que le filtrage des erreurs SOFT ne peut être fait que du coté serveur, si un hôte est en downtime et qu'il est en train de tomber, il sera donc en SOFT state et filtré, aNag n'ayant pas l'info, ne peux pas filtrer ses services.
Les contournements possibles sont:
désactiver l'utilisation du JSON au niveau de l'instance
définir le downtime sur l'hôte et les services
mise à jour d'Icinga en 1.8+
désactiver "Display filters and options" => "Don't fetch soft state services"
Le parsing HTML n'est pas impacté puisque l'entité hôte est affiché dans la page pour présenter le service et donc aNag récupère le status down time par ce biais.

Almost perfect. but: server load jumps over critical it triggers alarm-its right. But when load is going down-alarm rings again.status still critical. I think it's more on your instance flapping configuration or soft state/hard state configuration

Great app, minor issue trying to stop the application. The app sometimes won't exit when using the help menu and not even when using aan task killer. It keeps restarting and doing a check. This can happens when the network connection goes crazy or stuck in a low level operation. Unfortunately I can't do a lot against it.
Using the task killer should do the trick (it always did for me). Be sure to use About => Shutdown app & servuce => Exit without restarting aNag before using the task manager.
This will avoid aNag to respanw by setting a flag to cancel statup from boot or scheduled actions. Starting by hand aNag will reset this flag.
Another source of problem is using home button to exit the app. Android stacks activities and sometimes run several instance of the application in parrallel but I have control only on the displayed activity (the one closed when you click Exit).
This is a common question (without really complete answer :/) posted on stack overflow.

Nice app Idea for improvement - besides the options for hiding the ack-ed (and otherd) hosts and services it would be nice to have an option for just graying these, or draw a line across them. Also in listing these could be sorted to the end of the list, i.e. new problems could be first. I have to admit that it's a long time I was thinking about reordering problems display :D

Fully functional, and highly configurable. Lots of configuration options and tweaks, or works fine with just the basic instances / server settings put in. Notifications can be tweaked, and the maker even added LED notifications after I requested them. By far the best Nagios monitor for Android there is, and it keeps getting better!

I'm aware of this concern, that's why I do my best to keep the application as small as possible (currently ~370k).

Als Sysadmin weiß ich die permanente Verfügbarkeit zu schätzen - aber dass diese App sich nur über die Kill-Funktion des Launchers terminieren lässt, geht mir doch etwas zu weit. Es gibt ja auch andere Apps, die im Hintergrund ausgeführt werden können, trotzdem kann man dort den Dämon in der GUI über einen Beenden-Button beenden. I'm sorry but I don't understand German and google translate' version is quite messy :)

- Go to Settings, Notification and uncheck "Notify update failure"
- If you prefere to have updates only when wifi is available, go to Settings, "Low level settings" and check "Wifi only update"

Excellent. Love It. This is an excellent app. I never knew how much I needed it until I used it. I love the Quiet Hours feature. Most of all, I love that I can leave the office without that nagging little voice in the back of my head saying, "You don't want a client on the phone to be how you find out that a server went down".

Looks great, high traffic very clean and technically much better than nagroid. But fetches ~200kb data per refresh on my current setup. Nagroid fetches 529bytes. Perhaps only pull the full info if there are viewable (ie not filtered) problems. Would love to use this, but would need a much bigger data plan. Be sure to disable "Extended fetch" and enable "Fetch only faulty services" (which should be checked by default) in "Display filters and options"
What's surprising me is that, by default, aNag fetches only faulty services and for ~100 hosts and ~1500 services, with "Fetch only faulty serivces" DISABLED, a refresh is around 42k (serivces) + 5k (hosts).
So having 200Kb of payload implies you to have around 400 hosts and 6000 services having problems ?

WOW This is actually pretty awesome. Works perfectly with my DYNDNS account. Just in case my ISP shuts port 25 on me, at least I have this as backup. Widget is awesome. This is just amazing to me. Four stars because there is no way to exit program unless you end service. You can exit program and service using About => Kill app & service.

How to make this application always running, or make it as background aplication ? so cannot kill by another program, can run again if kill ? The update service should be always running (except if you kill it with "About" => "Kill app & service"). If you enable the Auto Update, the service will be restarted if not running while an update should occur.
BTW you can enforce it's lifetime by checking "Enforce service lifetime" in "Low level settings" but this force the notification icon to be displayed.

Good aplication, run on huawei slim7 I have question, how to detect host down, because until now, your aplication only report service down To be able to see host down, you must have at least one service attached to it. Otherwise it will not be shown on status.cgi and thus not detected by aNag without doing more than one http query per instance.
If you think there is a bug, feel be to send me a mail that I could fix it.

What kind of trouble did you experience ?
Since I use it, and I do since 0.9, I didn't notice any issues of that kind, as I focus exactly on reliability.

Très Bonne Application Points positifs : - Plusieurs instances de nagios - Certificats SSL auto signés acceptés - Notification personnalisées et complètes - Simple et efficace Point négatif ou à rajouter: - Une seule Langue : Anglais - Pouvoir Notifier des alertes selon leurs nombres de tentatives et/ou leur durée. (afin de pouvoir éviter les faux positifs et différencier les anciennes alertes (déjà notifiées) des nouvelles -> plus facile à dire qu'à faire je sais :-) [FR] Pour cela j'utilise l'Ack, avec le filtre de notif activé mais pas celui d'affichage, comme ça je garde les services fautifs dans la liste mais ils ne me reveillent pas (et je les ACK via la vur détaillée). C'est aussi tout a fait faisable en utilisant l'état "notification desactivé". Coté fausse positive, il y a le filtrage des soft states. (Et je dois bien avouer que je ne vois pas trop comment gérer ça sans réimplementer le fonctionnement de l'Ack et/ou du Down time). Comme d'hab, je suis dispo par mail pour en discuter :)
[EN] For this I use Acknowledgement, and I skip them at notification level, while keeping them in 'display filters', this way I keep an eye on those but they don't trouble my sleep (and I Ack them if neede on the service 'Detailed view'). You can also do it using the "Disabled notification" attribute. For false positive, you can use the 'Don't fetch soft state'. I have no idea of how to implement it without reimplementing Ack and down time mechanisms. As usual, send me a mail, we could discuss it :)

A very reasonable design. Basically it works fine. However all faulty service are marked as "Ack on Host" althougt the host is up and there is no Ack. Issue fixed in 1.0.0 :)

Works fine but the key thing missing for me is a notification indication with the icon in the taskbar. Making the android yellow or red would be great Since the begining, the icon color change depending on notification criterias and filters, not based on display filters. I can change this if you want (like a new setting for example). Fell free to drop me a line, and we can discuss it.

i'm very satisfied with it I use this app when I'm giving on-call and it works perfectly. the only thing I miss a bit is to skip the services/hosts which has disabled notification (in a maintenance window for example). Filter services acknowledged and in down time since 0.9.2 and having notification disabled since 0.9.8.2 (with a little bug fixed in 0.9.9.7)

Icon is always shown by default. Setting it to hidden doesn't work. Doesn't use whole screen on Atrix. Full screen issue has been fixed since 0.9.9.6 and "Hide icon" was implemented before your comment but require "Service Lifetime Enforcement" set to off

Works wonderful Works like a charm on SG S2- switched from Nagroid because of the better detail view. No need for multiple instances and it would be nice to have a option to hide the "status icon" if no warnings are reported. Available since 0.9.8 by disabling "Service Lifetime Enforcement" in conjunction of checking "Hide icon"
